Case study: Superior Efficacy with Advantex® Microfiber

Midwest Area Hospital System (652 beds) IDN

THE CHALLENGE

In 2023, a Midwest-area Community Hospital System’s HAI rate increased. Knowing the risk of spreading pathogens via the healthcare facility floor throughout the day, the hospital system challenged the EVS Director to improve the effectiveness of floor cleaning.

OUR SOLUTION: Advantex® Mopping Solution™

After reviewing the Geerpres® research data, which showed that not all microfiber mops perform equally, they decided to switch to the Advantex® Single-use Microfiber Mop with synthetic construction. The Hospital System moved from a competitor’s premier mop to the Advantex® Single-use Microfiber Mops, Advantex® Mop Frame, and Telescoping Aluminum Handle System. The data and customer feedback presented in this case study were collected in 2024 and compared with data from 2022-2023.

From: Director of Environmental Services

“Advantex® is a superior product with better floor coverage, improved packaging, and higher employee satisfaction. We are confident in our choice of Advantex® mops.”

~Director of Environmental Services, Midwest-Area Hospital System

Professional Grade Microfiber with Superior efficacy

Geerpres Advantex® microfiber is finer than industry microfiber requirements, therefore having superior efficacy. Advantex® microfiber has a denier of 0.53, about half of one (1.0) denier. With efficacy rates of 99.9-99.99% on pathogen removal, Advantex® helps reduce the cross-contamination risks*.

DENIER: The finer the microfiber denier, the more effective they are at picking up dust, pathogens, and dirt and absorbing the liquids involved in cleaning.

Case study: Advantex® vs Laundered Mops

Dallas Area Hospital System (434 beds) IDN

THE CHALLENGE

In 2023, a hospital system conducted a deep inspection of rooms after patient discharge cleaning and found HAI pathogens, including Clostridium difficile (C. diff), in 44% of cleaned rooms. The hospital system switched to disposable microfiber mops to help eliminate cross-contamination risks from freshly laundered mops. Most hospital EVS teams also experience frequent inventory shortages and excessive loss/replacement charges resulting from outsourced laundering.

OUR SOLUTION: Advantex® Mopping Solution™

The Hospital System transitioned from laundered mops to the Advantex® Healthcare Floor Solution (Advantex® Single-use Microfiber Mops, Advantex® Mop Frame, and Telescoping Aluminum Handle System). The data presented in this case study was collected in 2024 and compared with data from 2021-2023.

From: Director of Environmental Services

“Our hospital floors are cleaner, and our EVS team is more efficient, with fewer trips to manage mop supply and charge buckets. The transition to the Advantex® Floor Solution was smooth, and we are very pleased with the experience working with Geerpres®. The bottom line is that they helped us lower operating costs and reduce HAIs.”

~Director of Environmental Services, Dallas Area Hospital System

PATIENT ROOM FLOOR CHALLENGE

First, the EVS team cleaned a patient room with a laundered mop system and let the floor air dry. Then, again, clean the same patient room floor with an Advantex® single-use microfiber mop system. The Dallas hospital system was astounded by the Challenge results! The Advantex® microfiber mop was visibly filthy and provided undisputable evidence that Advantex® Mops vastly outperformed laundered mops. Advantex® mops deliver the most solution per single-use mop to achieve coverage for an entire patient room (up to 250 sq. ft. per mop), and combined with the Advantex® frame, provides even cleaning coverage over the entire floor surface.

IMPROVED ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

By converting to the Advantex® Healthcare Floor Solution, “we have reduced our environmental footprint. We have significantly lower environmental impact by having substantially less water wasted. The EPA TRACI model analysis on the global warming potential also indicates less environmental adverse implications as compared to laundering mops”.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Converting to the Advantex® Healthcare Floor Solution and eliminating mop laundry services was budget-neutral. However, by reducing floor pathogens, the hospital system lowered the occurrence of HAIs. This hospital system reported that the average HAI cost was over $45,000 per incident. The estimated reduction in HAIs has had a significant positive financial impact on the hospital system.

Case study: Advantex® Spill Hero™

Case study: Advantex® Spill Hero™

West Coast Major League Baseball Stadium

THE CHALLENGE

We were asked to develop a solution to the trash spills and pooling liquids found in waste receptacles and collection containers caused by leaking trash liners. Trash collection is a
high priority because high-traffic establishments generate huge amounts of trash. Leaking trash liners create a mess in the trash receptacles and the floor while transferring or transporting trash. These spills cause unsafe floors, emit odors, and reflect poorly on the facility.

OUR SOLUTION: Advantex® Spill Hero™

The 14″ x 14″ Advantex® High-Absorbency Single-use Spill Hero™ pad is designed to absorb 128 oz. (1 gallon) water-based spills in minutes or days. Patent Pending #62/629,371

REDUCE LIABILITY CHALLENGE

Wet floors can be hazardous, no matter the reason. They are a significant contributor to slips and falls, which result in serious injuries. Our Spill Hero eliminated a significant source of the stadium’s wet floors by locking trash leakage into our pad for easy drip-free disposal.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The Advantex Spill Hero Pad solution has reduced sanitation workforce hours by eliminating the worry of messy spills from leaking trash liners. Less wet floors also lower the risk of personal injuries from slip-and-fall incidents, leading to significant cost savings. A clean event stadium reflects your commitment to patron safety and enhances their overall experience, driving ticket sales and ensuring their return.
